ILCS evaluates reincarnation cases using a structured, transparent methodology built on decades of prior research. Every claim is labeled by evidence type, every case is scored against a validated rubric, and alternative explanations are always considered. This page explains how we work.

The Dual-Track Approach

All ILCS research operates on two clearly labeled tracks. Understanding the distinction between them is central to reading any case on this site.

Empirical Track (Academic & Investigative)

Cases grounded in verifiable evidence: child past-life memories with independent corroboration, birthmark and medical correlations, xenoglossy (speaking an unlearned language), and documentary records. These cases follow standard investigative protocols — documentation first, then comparison — and align with the standards established by the University of Virginia Division of Perceptual Studies (Ian Stevenson, Jim Tucker).

Empirical-track cases form the strongest foundation for the field. They are our Tier 1 and Tier 2 cases.

Intuitive Track (Channeling Method)

Dr. Walter Semkiw worked extensively with trance medium Kevin Ryerson, who channels a spirit guide referred to as Ahtun Re. These sessions contributed identity hypotheses that were then evaluated against empirical evidence. Channeling outputs are treated as exploratory leads and are very helpful when validating intuitive insights, and synchronistic events.

Our Evidence Labeling Methods (A–F)

Every piece of evidence in every case is labeled with one of six categories. This system ensures you always know what type of information you are looking at.

LabelTypeDescriptionWeight
AEmpirical / Verified RecordsDocuments, dates, photos, public records, quotes from primary sourcesStrongest
BFirst-Person TestimonyMemories, dreams, impressions, spontaneous statements from the subjectStrong (with corroboration)
CRegression / Hypnosis AccountsReported experiences under hypnosis or guided regression — not verificationModerate
DMedium / Trance / IntuitiveInterpretive input from mediums or channeled sources Exploratory
EAI-Derived PatterningSimilarity detection, clustering, and summarization by AI toolsSupportive
FThird-Party Public PostsSocial media, anecdotal reports — unverified unless independently corroboratedAnecdotal

The 10-Point Validation Matrix

Developed by Dr. Walter Semkiw, this matrix is the backbone of ILCS case evaluation. Each case is assessed across ten dimensions of potential continuity between a past life and a present life:

  1. Physical Resemblance — Facial and physical similarity between past and present persons
  2. Birthmarks & Scars — Physical marks that correspond to wounds, injuries, or distinctive features from the prior life
  3. Innate Talents & Behaviors — Skills, abilities, or behavioral patterns that appear without training in the current life
  4. Personality & Values — Continuity of temperament, character traits, and core values
  5. Written & Spoken Expression — Similarities in writing style, speech patterns, or linguistic habits
  6. Relationships Re-Encountered — Soul-group patterns: people from a past life appearing in new roles in the current life
  7. Geographic & Lifetime Overlap — Connections between the places and time periods of past and present lives
  8. Phobias & Aversions — Unexplained fears or strong reactions that may correspond to past-life trauma
  9. Identity Shifts Across Lives — Changes in gender, nationality, religion, or social role between incarnations
  10. Death-to-Birth Interval — The time gap between the past person’s death and the present person’s birth

Not every dimension applies to every case. Strong cases typically show convergence across multiple dimensions rather than relying on a single indicator.

OCEAN Personality Overlay

As an additional layer, ILCS applies the Big Five personality model (OCEAN) — Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism — to cross-check personality continuity claims. This structured psychological framework helps prevent narrative drift and ensures that story momentum does not override structured observation.

Our three-layer coordination model for case evaluation:

  1. Personality Architecture (OCEAN) — Highest structural authority
  2. Semkiw Evidence Categories — The 10-Point Matrix and A–F labeling
  3. Narrative / Meaning Layer — Lowest authority; interpretive context, never the basis for a conclusion

Case Workflow

Every case that ILCS considers for publication goes through a seven-step pipeline. Submit Your Case or Send us an Email mail@reincarnation.info

  1. Intake & Privacy Scan — Identify subjects, obtain consent, apply default redactions (names of minors, family members, exact addresses, schools, workplaces)
  2. Source Capture — Gather and archive all primary sources: documents, recordings, photographs, written testimony
  3. Evidence Labeling (A–F) — Tag every piece of evidence with its appropriate label
  4. 10-Point Matrix Mapping — Assess the case across all ten Semkiw dimensions
  5. OCEAN Profile Overlay — Check personality continuity claims against the Big Five framework
  6. Alternative Hypotheses — Document what doesn’t fit; assess non-reincarnation explanations (cryptomnesia, confabulation, coincidence, fraud)
  7. Publish or Hold — Cases meeting our acceptance threshold are published with full evidence labeling. Cases that don’t meet the threshold are held for further investigation or archived with noted gaps.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not present reincarnation as proven fact
  • We do not assign identities to living people without labeling them as hypotheses
  • We do not use sensational language or fear-based framing
  • We do not offer medical or therapeutic diagnoses. Please dial 911 for emergency medical help.
  • We do not publish cases involving minors without guardian consent and a low-risk assessment
  • We do not treat intuitive-track inputs as standalone evidence

Our goal is to help people make sense of these experiences with clarity, context, and care — not to tell them what to believe.
